im gegensatz zur großen sommerausgabe des „jazzfestivals saalfelden“ ist das „3 tage jazz“ ein kleines aber feines festival, welches im winter inmitten des salzburger innergebirgs veranstaltet wird. insgesamt neun konzerte an drei unterschiedlichen standorten warten auf die besucher.
seit seinem erscheinen in der fruchtbaren londoner szene der 1980er jahre mit den bahnbrechenden loose tubes hat der saxophonist/komponist julian argüelles seine position in der ersten reihe der zeitgenössischen musiker mit einer karriere behauptet, die eine enorme musikalität mit einer unendlich neugierigen, suchenden veranlagung verbindet. ob er nun für große ensembles wie der hr big band und die ndr big band komponiert, mit john taylor, carla bley und kenny wheeler die grenzen der musik auslotet oder in die reichen traditionen südafrikas eintaucht, sein musizieren ist stets von einem großzügigen umgang mit seinem publikum und einem forschenden sinn für abenteuer geprägt. „doublespeak“ lädt den hörer ein, julian bei der letzten station seiner reise zu begleiten und präsentiert seine unverwechselbare stimme in einem völlig neuen kreativen umfeld.
lyrik auf die zwölf! was mit dem blick aufs cover auch eine indieband der nuller jahre sein könnte, erweist sich als jazzgeladenes powerhouse, das vor ideenreichtum und spielfreude nur so blitzt. das leipziger quartett „pauline réage“ erschließt sich mit hochgradig energetischem spiel und poetischer mehrstimmigkeit neues terrain.
anne munka, sängerin und initiatorin des projekts, beschreibt ihre musik als dramatisch, empathisch und lyrisch. noch vor drei jahren lag ihr schwerpunkt hauptsächlich auf der vermittlung von literatur, klangkunst und hörspiel. kollaborationen mit stimmen aus jazz und lyrik wie marcel beyer, rabih lahoud, nora gomringer und günther baby sommer haben ihr nicht nur eine breite künstlerische basis verschafft, sondern auch den grundstein für ihr jazzquartett „pauline réage“ gelegt. …
