branchenforum für improvisierte musik & jazz: 12. european jazz conference erstmals in deutschland
vom 24. bis 27. september 2026 trifft sich die europäische szene für jazz & improvisierte musik in köln. gemeinsame gastgeber sind der stadtgarten köln, die cologne jazzweek und die monheim triennale in zusammenarbeit mit dem europe jazz network (ejn). über 200 mitgliedsorganisationen des ejn aus 38 ländern sowie internationale fachleute kommen zusammen, um über die rolle von jazz und improvisierter musik für gesellschaftlichen dialog, kulturelle innovation und demokratische resilienz zu diskutieren. die debatten und austauschformate der konferenz stehen dabei unter dem leitmotto „who we are, what we stand for“ und setzen impulse für die zukünftige ausrichtung der szene. ein wesentlicher bestandteil der veranstaltung ist ein showcase-festival mit insgesamt 13 beiträgen aus der aktuellen deutschen jazzszene. zudem werden mit den ejn awards 2026 akteur:innen geehrt, die sich um die europäische jazz-szene verdient gemacht haben. vom 5. bis 11. september 2026 findet die sechste ausgabe der cologne jazzweek statt und rückt erneut in den mittelpunkt des europäischen festivalsommers. als urbanes modell mit überregionaler strahlkraft verbindet das festival die lokale szene mit der europäischen gegenwart und internationalen trends. es reagiert auf eine vielschichtige gegenwart, die von gesellschaftlichem wandel sowie neuen globalen verbindungen geprägt ist, und übersetzt diese entwicklungen in ein offenes musikalisches programm.

vier posaunen sind entweder vier posaunen, oder sie verschmelzen zu etwas ganz anderem. das millennium trombone quartet ist nicht das erste posaunen-kleeblatt der gegenwart, und doch bringt schon der bandname zum ausdruck, dass die drei tenorposaunisten nicolaj wolf, philipp hayduk und moritz renner sowie bassposaunist kai baumgarten sich etwas besonderes vorgenommen haben. und tatsächlich fragt man sich gleich beim futuristischen opener des albums „die fabrik des zwergenkönigs“: was denn, das sollen posaunen sein? da verwandeln die vier ihre blasrohre am anfang des tracks einfach in ein percussion ensemble.
das millennium trombone quartet besteht zwar aus vier ausgewiesenen virtuosen, solisten und musikalischen visionären, doch in dieser konstellation steht immer die gruppe im vordergrund, aus der heraus sich dann der einzelne solist jeweils manifestiert. […]
